These are very nice remasterings to SACD and I really like the Multi-channel sound. Would love to see more CTI albums from Vocalion and I am very happy to have this in my collection. A big thumbs up to Vocalion!

Artistry: Deodato is a "one trick pony". He takes popular and/or classical tunes and does jazz variations on the themes. It is quite good but it can turn into elevator music if you listen to it too much. Deodato's original tunes are not that good. Prelude is a better album than Deodato 2.
Recording: Is very good but Billy Cobham's drumming is pushed way back into the distance behind front right speaker and the electric bass is a bit weak. This is an artistic preference and they rely on the congas for the beat. The immersive surround effect is good.
Remastering: I own the original Prelude SQ Quadraphonic LP so I can directly compare the two. The SA-CD has vastly superior clarity and separation (as you would expect). But there were also instruments I could hear on the SA-CD that were lost on the LP. Overall, a solid 4 stars

I was a die-hard rock fan who refused to listen to Deodato when my buddy got the quad disc.
Big mistake.
This is the ultimate fusion of smooth jazz & rock. I listen to this disc almost weekly...and the quad version is stunning. I guess, for me, better late than never. BUY IT!
