Pianist and composer Frankie Carle leads his orchestra through a magical selection of tunes in the albums comprising this Vocalion release. In some ways, Frankie can be thought of as America's answer to Britain's Ronnie Aldrich, and in Around the World (1958) the listener is indeed taken on a journey around the world with Frankie's gentle piano style leading the way. His sumptuous orchestrations of tunes such as Under the Bridges of Paris, Blue Hawaii, Hindustan and Tales from the Vienna Woods are so evocative that you feel as if you have been transported to the place the music is depicting! Frankie takes females as his inspiration in the delightful 1958 album Frankie Carle and His Beautiful Dolls, and in doing so produces beautiful, lush versions of tunes such as Doll Face, The Wedding of the Painted Doll, Cupie Doll, Dainty Doll and many more.
