Rare Tom Jones/Engelbert Humperdinck
Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck, two of the biggest singing sensations ever to hit the pop charts, put in an appearance on Vocalion in April/May 2009. These masters of the vocal art really need no introduction, but suffice to say that the material presented here comes from their prime 1970s Decca period. Much of it is making its first appearance on CD, with each release containing two entire albums that feature these men at the top of their game, backed by colourful, exciting arrangements from, among others, Johnnie Spence, Frank Barber, Mike Vickers and Keith Mansfield.

The other vocal delights on offer this month are jazz legend Annie Ross’s superb 1971 album ‘You and Me Baby’, recorded in the UK, and the fourth instalment in our ‘British Rock ‘n’ Roll at Decca’ series. Aren’t we good to you?

What's new?

May/June 2009 sees the release on Vocalion of British film music alongside jazz, funk and library music of the 1970s and ’80s, all of it lovingly remastered from the original analogue stereo tapes. There’s rare material from the legendary KPM 1000 Series archives, classic early ’80s jazz-funk, previously unreleased ’70s film scores and some thrilling ’70s jazz-rock...
